Sept. 5, 2003 12:00 AMIf Brian Downing Quig hadn’t been killed this summer, he’d probably be investigating the traffic accident that took his life.

Like Mel Gibson in the Hollywood movie Conspiracy Theory, Quig devoted his life to connecting dots and exposing plots. A voracious reader with an IBM memory and a Disney imagination, the 54-year-old Phoenix resident reveled in CIA black operations, mob hits and political skullduggery.

More than anything, he was obsessed with the theory that secret power barons are manipulating America, and that he must stop them.

“His main job in life was he wanted to make America better,” explained a sister, Phyllis Beninati of Long Island, N.Y.

Quig died earlier this summer after being struck in an accident with none of the intrigue that gave meaning to his life.

According to a Phoenix police report released Aug. 21, he was pushing a shopping cart down 75th Avenue near his west Phoenix home on June 16.

Eighteen-year-old Andy Martinez of Glendale was behind the wheel of a Toyota, listening to music and talking with two friends.

Martinez told detectives a man loomed in his windshield. He hit his brakes and swerved, to no avail. A plywood board in the shopping cart smashed through the windshield, injuring passenger Eric Colon, 18. Quig died a short while later at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.

Martinez was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana, but investigators determined that was not what caused the accident.

Quig had been remodeling a home in the neighborhood, trading work for a place to stay. But why he was hauling wood at that hour is a puzzle that might have driven him crazy, and still troubles admirers.

It didn’t take long for some to talk of a cover-up.

“These ‘accidents’ do not occur in a vacuum,” noted one, Virginia Lee McCullough, in a commentary on a Web site. “They are made to happen to silence the speech that used to be free in this country.”

In another Internet posting, Stew Webb listed the “known facts” about his friend’s death. Among them: Quig’s body was cremated and “never identified by anyone who knew him.”

Detective Alan Pfohl, who investigated the traffic fatality, said more than a dozen Quig acquaintances contacted him to insist it was no accident.

“But it’s kind of a cut-and-dried deal,” Pfohl added. “Mr. Quig was found responsible for his own death, for walking in the roadway.”

Days before his death, Quig fretted to The Arizona Republic about a libel suit filed against him by a Phoenix developer and ranted about police investigators who mistook him for a burglar, prompting an enraged letter of complaint.

Longtime friend Paul Rademacher of Phoenix did some snooping about the accident without finding any funny business.

However, Rademacher noted, Quig was more adept at identifying cover-ups.

“He could jump from one thing way over the moon to something else. He used to say, ‘I see the big picture.’ I’d laugh, but he believed it. And he was a bright cookie.”

Quig was especially proud of his Internet site (still active at www.dcia.com), created to expose the lords of darkness and show how they operate through the CIA, White House and international corporations.

The premise: “It was human folly for the UNITED STATES to empower an agency of government to specifically break its own laws.”

Even acquaintances concede that Quig, unfettered by rules of evidence, embraced rumors as fact and leaped from dubious assumptions to bullheaded conclusions.

Pointing out those flaws often proved futile because of his capacity to overwhelm critics with details.

When confronted with facts that appeared to disprove his theories, Quig would smile and explain that the conspirators were so clever they had covered up the truth by manufacturing false evidence.

Born into a Quaker family, Quig served as a congressional researcher investigating organized crime, a headhunter for business executives and a reporter for The Grapevine, a Phoenix tabloid distributed by the homeless. He did public relations for the nuclear power industry.

He helped out with Joe Arpaio’s first campaign for Maricopa County sheriff and worked on a book with right-wing presidential candidate Bo Gritz.

He ran a speakers bureau, worked as a busboy and promoted Omega 3 fatty acid from seafood as a medicinal panacea.

Marian Quig of Sun City said she never understood her son’s politics: “I didn’t see where it was going to get him. I said, ‘Brian, get a real job.’

“He never spoke ill of anybody,” she added. “He was just a good fellow.”

Rademacher and Schoen said they accepted Quig’s hyperbole and his financial shenanigans, such as a habit of forgetting his wallet, as benign eccentricities.

Quig always lived hand-to-mouth, they said. And he never got anything out of his Quixotic adventures except the righteous joy of a crusader for goodness.

Said Schoen: “He didn’t accomplish much. He never wrote a book or was on TV that I know of.

“But I feel very good about Brian Quig’s life.”

Brian Quig rose to his glory in the frantic days of the Watergate Hearings. Brian’s quick mind was sharpened at the Case Western Reserve Law School in Cleveland Ohio.

Brian had a nearly photographic memory when it came to remembering details, and was spurred on by the antics of Woodward and Bernstein who broke the story in the Washington Post. Brian wished to be held in the same respect as those two reporters, and reveled in their method of getting double and triple sets of witnesses to events unfolding in that embarrassing period of time.

Cleveland was the home of the Rockefeller family fortune, before they abandoned that city which had become drenched in the foul taint of Oil that they ruthlessly conquered. There were many documents buried within the Cleveland City Records on the Rockefeller family which Brian loved to uncover. Brian enjoyed the work of Ida Tarbell and her expose on the Rockefeller Dynasty of Oil.

Cleveland was also the home of the TRW Corporation Satellite Division that produced the secret Satellite Network that covered the mysterious Government Projects at Area 51 in Nevada for the Lockheed Skunkworks as well as in Pine Gap Australia. The movie “Falcon and the Snowman”, which Brian loved, was about the defection of Christopher Boyce who sold information to the Russians about our Satellite Network.

When Brian moved to Arizona, he became emeshed in the death of a gallant Arizona reporter named Don Bolles, who was blown up by a car bomb in the parking lot of the Clarendon Hotel in downtown Phoenix. Bolles was investigating the old booze and land fraud barons of Kemper Marley and Ned Warren. Strange as it seems, the Goldwater brothers, Barry and Robert, were strangely linked to both of these millionaire fraud barons.

Brian now made it a Quest of his own to continuing the research of Don Bolles and the Arizona power brokers that backed Charter
Government in Arizona after World War II, and the rise of the
Goldwater Conservative Republican Party. Along the way Brian
acquired a few great allies and many enemies in his relentless
pursuit of the details on the death of Don Bolles.

Brian eventually met Conrad Murphy who was the former President of Sea Ray Boats, and the inventor of the automatic trunk opening system of General Motors cars. Conrad likewise was investigating the murder of Bolles and had lots of money to help Brian dig up more facts on that case.

Brian also met Paul Raudemacher, a disgruntled Real Estate broker who had moved to Arizona from the land of the Quales and the Pulliams back in Indiana and Illinois. Paul had become a Private Investigator in Phoenix, and knew countless details about the mysterious movement in Arizona to eliminate the older Democratic Party stalwarts running the State of Arizona, who were being slowly replaced with the crowd around the good looking Barry Goldwater.

Brian along with Conrad Murphy and Paul Raudemacher had uncovered many details that seemed to link Robert Goldwater with old line Chicago Mobsters who migrated to Phoenix on the coat tails of the mighty Motorola Corporation, based in Shaumberg Illinois. Wm Wrigley brought his Chicago Cubs to Arizona, and Motorola and the Mob soon followed.

The Chicago Mob gained a foothold in Phoenix and began to help build the small city of Las Vegas into the wonder it is today. Dell Webb of Phoenix became the contractor for many Vegas Casinos, and his mobster buddy Gus Greenbaum lived in Phoenix also.

Brian seems to have thought that the Chicago Mobs and the Detroit Green Gang had expanded into Arizona and had brought Eugene Pulliam, owner of the Indianapolis Star into their plot to take over the
politics in Arizona. James Quayle married Pulliam’s daughter and his son, Vice President Danny Quayle, was part of this master plan.

Nancy Reagan’s father was the Co-founder of the massive medical
clinics in Arizona known as the Thomas-Davis Medical Foundation, and thus gave great clout to Ronald Reagan in the Arizona Political
takeover of the Republican Party. The old Taft and Rockefeller
families of the Eastern Wing of the Republican Party had to be doneaway with so that Goldwater and his gang could take over the country.

Brian became totally involved with the research of Don Bolles and the Emprise Corporation whom Bolles claimed was involved in his death with his last dying breath.

Brian dedicated his life to the continuation of the work of Ida

This September 1991 article goes on to reveal former Special Agent In Charge of the DEA, Terry Burke, as a long time Ted Shackley CIA associate. After turning on my TV to see the burning tower after the first plane hit the WORLD TRADE CENTER my attention was arrested like all others. When the second plane hit the second tower I said to myself WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE? When the 3rd hijacked plane hit the PENTAGON, the first witnesses reported the “plane circled the PENTAGON in a sharply banked 270 degree turn that was distinctly different than any commercial plane and more like a military plane” and bypassed a straight in shot at the offices of the JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF only to hit an insignificant spot in the back of the PENTAGON. I said to myself then, IT IS NOT A REAL TERRORIST ATTACK!! THANK GOD!!

One hour after the second plane hit a CIA analyst on ABC announced that it was Osama bin Laden who was behind the attacks!

When on the first day I saw it announced that terrorists left a flight manual for the BOEING 757 written in Arabic in their rental car parked at LOGAN AIRPORT I said THIS LOOKS LIKE PLANTED EVIDENCE REMINISCENT OF THE FAKED PHOTO OF LEE HARVEY OSWALD WITH THE RIFLE USED TO KILL THE PRESIDENT IN ONE HAD AND THE COMMUNIST NEWSPAPERS IN THE OTHER THAT WAS USED TO CONVICT OSWALD IN THE MINDS OF THE AMERICAN PUBLIC.

When the passport of the alleged lead terror pilot, Mohammed Atta, was found in 2 feet of rubble 2 blocks from the WTC I said WHO DO THEY EXPECT TO BELIEVE THAT!! Then they expected us to believe that Atta packed a bag for his suicide flight and by some good fortune it did not make his flight. To top it all off the baggage contained a suicide note. Then bin Laden makes a confession on video tape and leaves the tape where it is found. And the gullible American public buys it all primarily because it is unchallenged by the entire mass media!!

I can now give 25 compelling reasons to indict Daddy Bush, Cheney, the PENTAGON and the CARLYLE GROUP for the real terror behind 911. Daddy Bush and Cheney were in the SITUATION ROOM at the WHITE HOUSE during the terror attacks (during the 34 minutes between the second WTC hit and the PENTAGON hit while a stand down order was issued to the AIR FORCE to supersede established intercept procedures for planes that stray off course).

Junior Bush was reading stories to grade school children during the attacks. He knew one plane had crashed into the WTC when the reading started. When his top aid Andrew Card whispered in his ear about the second plane hitting the WTC this was caught on videotape and is widely available on the internet. Junior Bush only looks up and nods and then goes back to reading stories to the kids for 25 more minutes!! It clearly looks more like Card is informing Bush of an expected event. There was for example no time for Card to add AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER HIJACKED PLANES IN THE AIR.

The Director of the WHITE HOUSE SITUATION ROOM where all military crises are managed is with Junior Bush at the grade school. At the end of the 25 minutes of reading Bush goes immediately to the library of the school where a press conference was set. He says there I CALLED MY VICE PRESIDENT AND MY FBI DIRECTOR AND THE GOVERNOR OF NEW YORK. This was a lie!! There was not enough
time for that.

It takes $5 million to make the minimum investment in CARLYLE GROUP, the defense contractor investment group whose stock has gone up 37% since 911. The friends of Bush and Cheney are the other investors in CARLYLE GROUP along with the bin Ladens and John Major. CARLYLE GROUP was having their international investors conference in Washington D.C. at the RITZ CARLETON at the exact time of the 911 attacks. CARLYLE GROUP had a big interest in BIOPORT a company that was the sole source of ANTHRAX VACCINE for the PENTAGON. BIOPORT gave Admiral Crowe, the former Chairman of the JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF a 27% interest in the company for his pull

with the PENTAGON. Do I have to connect all the dots regarding the ANTHRAX ATTACK that was traced to US military sources?

It was widely reported by THE NEW YORK TIMES Feb. 17, 2002, MSNBC Oct. 7, 2001 and others that Pakistani ISI Chief, General Mahmud, wire transferred $100,000 to alleged lead terror pilot Mohammed Atta the week before the terror attacks. At the exact moment of the terror attacks Mahmud was having breakfast with the chairmen of the HOUSE (Rep. Porter Goss, R-Fla) and SENATE (Sen. Bob Graham, D-Fla) INTELLIGENCE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEES along with my senator Jon Kyl. I will have words with Kyl at the next opportunity. The $100,000 was sufficient to remove Mahmud from office but not enough for the light to go on in the brains of our top US intelligence officials!!

Niaz Naik, a former Pakistani Foreign Secretary, and others were told by senior American officials in mid-July that military action against Afghanistan would go ahead by the middle of October. In an exercise, called Operation “Swift Sword” planned for four years, 23,000 British troops were on their way to Oman the day before the attacks. These troops were the ones used to assist the Americans in the Afghan invasion. At the same time two U.S. carrier battle groups arrived on station in the Gulf of Arabia just off the Pakistani coast. Also at the same time, some 17,000 U.S. troops join more than 23,000 NATO troops in Egypt for Operation “Bright Star.” All of these forces were in place before the first plane hit the WTC!

In my search for the best evidence of fake 911 terror I have found a great deal. As far as stand alone evidence, the capability of the BOEING 757 and BOEING 767 to take off and land by computer alone is the most compelling. These planes are fully capable of being remotely piloted which is what happened during the terror attacks. Each of the four hijacked planes had 6 hidden panic alerts for just such events that were known to the flight crew. NONE OF THEM WERE ACTIVATED!! The alleged terrorists were the equivalent of Lee Harvey Oswalds — patsies lured into place to take the blame. Our FBI has made no effort to reconcile their initial list of terrorists with the real people with those identities shown to be alive in the Middle East!!

The overall plan to send operatives to the US and have them train to fly commercial aircraft at single engine flight schools is a very doubtful affair. Real terrorists financed by bin Laden’s billion dollars would have already been trained pilots quickly infiltrated shortly before the operation. In secret operations like this time is the great terminator. One of the alleged pilots trained at a single engine flight school in Phoenix that I once attended. One day a year WILLIAMS AIR FORCE BASE opened their flight simulators to the public. Their simulators were on hydraulic lifters with switches to day and night flight as well as various aircraft. I used to consider myself lucky when I could crash the F-16 on the runway. Usually I did not do that well! For any terror master to bet the farm on such a dubious plan would be unthinkable. But fooling the gullible American public is a far easier prospect.

The software of the BOEING 757 and 767 over rides pilot error and will not let a pilot make banking turns like the PENTAGON plane which was pulling 5 Gs at its final approach or the second WTC plane that was pulling 3 Gs. This is the most fruitful area to explore for those wishing positive proof that the terror attacks were faked.

The American public has no concept of how the entire broadcast industry is monolithically controlled — all offering the same lies at the same time. There are 6 corporate groups that own all of the newspapers in America. The last time the senate examined the corporate ownership of the broadcast industry was 1970 when they issued a report showing an enormous crime in progress. There is an ISRAELI WAR LOBBY numbering in the thousands beating the drum for war totally unchallenged on TV. They are not registered as agents of a foreign government as law requires. The ambitions of the Bush administration go far beyond getting the Afghan pipeline to move the $350 billion of central Asian oil. They are pressing for full-scale war where more is destroyed in a day than is produced in an entire year of peace. From the business standpoint WAR IS THE ULTIMATE CONSUMER!!

Virginia McCullough here. I post at www.newsmakingnews.com and will be writing an article about Brian for Monday’s page. Brian and I corresponded for several years past and I have extensive files on this correspondence. Brian sent me one email wherein he stated that Black Op Radio (Col. Fletcher Prouty archieve location) and I were perhaps the only people to fully believe and understand the direct connection between the killing of reporter Jos. Danny Casolaro (Inslaw victim), the Temple murders, the case known as the Drug Tug bust in San Francisco Bay and the Hayward drug bust of Lau Ching Chin who was using (at that time) Bank of America Director Peter Bedford (Bedford Properties) warehouse to store pure white heroin from Thailand.

Meanwhile, a reward should be offered for information about the hit and run killer. The chances are about 20 to 1 that it was not an accident by my reckoning. It sounds like the police have been bought off. They are letting the trail get cold before releasing information that would stimulate public leads. What I would expect.

This is the biggest loss the anti-Bush-etc.-mafia investigators since Will Davis, a very well informed heavyweight of APFN disappeared less than a year ago.

I am often asked how it is that I am still alive
after they hear some of the stories I have to tell.
The simplest answer is that I tell everything I know
when I know it to as many people as possible so I am
no more a threat than all of you. (Don’t worry, with
over 700-800 reporters, activist and concerned
individuals on this list I think we are all far
better off – However…. now would be a good time to

I got a call last week from Brian Quig when he saw
the e-mails that detailed the guest for Friday and
the War Debate for Saturday. He called again on
Sunday the day after the debate. Brian and I talked
for some time. Brian was very pleased with the
debate on the radio and was emboldened to finally
come on the radio and “tell all”.

Brian’s sister from back East got a call from the
police this morning while visiting her mother here
in Phoenix. All she had to go on was a second number
to get hold of Brian with. That person knew to
contact me.

I’ll go into more detail on the radio when I know
more later this week. I’ve known Brian off and on
for over 10 years. He is a very smart man and had
crossed paths with many movers and shakers and knew
not only where ‘the bodies were buried, but who put
them there’. When he called me yesterday with
additional information on things that he really
wanted to get off his chest I refused to listen and
said that we finally had a microphone to use and
that if he wanted to “cleanse” himself then he’d
have to do it on the air for all of our benefits
instead of venting with me and leaving me to do all
of the dirty work,…. as I am asked to do often by
many.

Brian agreed and we were to set a firm date for next
week by the middle of this week. Brian was very
smart and informed, but like many Constitutionalist
he let the pursuit of the truth consume his time to
the point that his resources were always on the
edge. For us libertarians we are far less concerned
with the characters of the collective since we know
that the moment you rid yourself of one there are a
hundred in training to take their place. Brian was
more than just concerned with the macro view of what
was going on. He was always connecting the dots of
each individual and their relationship with others.
His understanding of Arizona and US politics
connected the lowest street criminal to the most
powerful politicians and law enforcement in the
land. I knew the “Brian Quig” series was going to be
like the ‘Jack McLamb’ series, and would take
several shows to get it all in the archive. In fact
you can hear me referring to Brian in some of the
Jack McLamb shows. Brian’s series of
articles in a small homeless distributed newspaper
in the early 90’s, The Grapevine (that was shut down
by the government – long story) on the Maricopa
County Buddhist Temple Murders and their connection
to high official drug trafficking was read word for
word in Thailand on radio stations across their
country and had the effect of the US State
Department getting involved (this one event is 2
shows all by itself).

Brian was reported to have been crossing a street in
the West Valley at 2:30am in the morning pushing a
shopping cart with a piece of wood in it when he was
killed by a car. This is as detailed of information
his sister could get. I got the phone number for the
detective Alan Pfohl (sp?) at the Phoenix Police
Department but could not get in touch with him
directly and have yet to get a return call. His
sister was told nothing and didn’t know what to do
but to get the word out for help in tracking down
the most basic information. I have one major
question that I want answered to my
satisfaction,…. “Was the driver of the car
identified”? I don’t really need to know anything
other than the driver is known and that they are a
soccer Mom or a student or a ????? driving at
2:30am. But if they are without a good deep “legend”
or are unknown, then I got some concerns. As soon as
I know I will relay that information to you.

Those of you on this list that are reporters might
want to take a moment and ask your law enforcement
contacts about this case just to say you did at the
very least. Brian was more than a “Conspiritualist ” he
was one of the guys that did the original research
_for_ the conspiracy “nuts”. He lived very modestly,
but was very business like and blended in well at
political events. The last time I saw him in person
was at the Gubernatorial Debate the Wednesday before
the Election here in Arizona… he looked good.

I just got a call from a Private Investigator friend
that I asked to check on the case for me. They said
that they talked to the Detective on the case but
that he would tell them nothing and that the report
would be public information in 30 days. I then
called the sister and she is going to see if she can
find out anything else. I asked that she please
focus on the question, ‘was a hit and run thing’.
She also said that Brian was alive when the first
officer arrived Brian tried to tell him something
but the Detective would not repeat it to the sister.
Brian’s sister was additionally saddened by the fact
that he had lost so much blood that they were not
able to harvest any organs for donation.

In my opinion Brian added a great deal of knowledge
to the mix and I looked forward to having him on the
show by the end of next week. Reporters would
dismiss his observations and research with no more
justification than they were too lazy to check the
information themselves or were afraid of what they
would find out. Much of Brian’s research overlapped
what was discovered by the Investigative Reporters &
Editors organization that was comprised of dozens of
reporters and editors from around the country that
spent months in Arizona researching the political
corruption in Arizona after the reporter Don Bolles

Stew Webb is a special case.

I called Stew Webb several days ago when I saw Herb Jameison assert that Stew Webb was giving legal advice to Doug Alexander. Webb denied this placing Herb even more in a bad light. There is no doubt that Stew Webb is a loose cannon — sometime pointed in the right direction sometimes not. He knows alot of key people. He is easily taken in. He lived with Ted Gunderson for a while for example. I have no reason to believe that he is not the son in law of Leonard Milman — a Carl Lindner level billionaire connected to SILVERADO and the HUD and S&L looting.

I assume that Stew is reading this now. For some reason Stew likes to shock people and will go to extremes to do it. In our conversation he told me that my friend Barbara Honegger was recently murdered and that I could get the details from a SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE reporter who I called who then told me that he knew nothing about that and he never spoke with Stew Webb about the subject. We then had a very productive 3 hours conversation about Charlie Keating. For most sources such shocking “inaccuracies” would be unforgivable. But Webb does produce valuable information and that is probably why Ruppert and Fitts continue to speak with him as I do. It is just necessary to sift the good from the bad. Much of his reporting is the product of uncontrolled mania but some is the product of unusually high contacts. While his reporting may be compromised by his efforts to obtain funding he appears in every way to me to be his own person and not working for a hidden agenda of anyone else.

I, too, am concerned about Webb’s association with Fitts and Ruppert. A few months ago I asked Catherine if Webb is really the “whistleblower” he claims to be. She replied he had done some valuable work on HUD (her specialty). I am loath to believe that Fitts and Ruppert are so naive as to not recognize Webb’s instability and outrageous declarations.

I don’t know. I’m not familiar with Stew’s story outside of the ramblings I’ve come across in here, but the whole thing is bizarre — bizarre that they get as much publicity and airtime that they do.

Pedestrian, 54, is killed while crossing street

PHOENIX – A 54-year-old man was killed Monday morning while crossing the street at 75th Avenue and Catalina Drive.

The pedestrian was carrying plywood, which broke through the windshield of
the vehicle that hit him, injuring the passenger, said Phoenix police Sgt.
Jim Pryor.

The passenger, a 17-year-old male, was transported to Maryvale hospital, and the 17-year-old driver is under investigation for drug use, Pryor said.

Brian Downing Quig was crossing the street on Monday morning in his
hometown, apparently carrying a large piece of plywood, and was hit by a car
containing two 17 year olds. The plywood went through the windshield and
struck one of the kids, putting him in the hospital. The other is the one
who called 911. Brian Quig died. The police are looking into whether the
kids were high or not, but they don’t think so apparently, just that it was
a really unfortunate accident.
While I had plenty of disagreements with Quig, and had lotsa problems
with some of the allegations and assertions he’s utter, I liked him himself
and he was always very nice to me and supportive of my work. I’m feeling a
bit shocked by this news to be quite frank about it, and due to his
interests, cannot help but have a couple of paranoid type thoughts like
“what was he working on at the time” sorts of thoughts.
As far as I knew him he was a good guy, if a bit of a “shoot from the
hip” kind of researcher.
Light a candle or whatever you all do for memorializing someone and
sending them off with the best of thoughts and wishes.

If you live in Falls Church, Virginia, and you see a funny looking aircraft circling over your neighborhood don’t be alarmed. It’s just the Pentagon looking for the sniper. CNN says Rummy wants to help out, so he has approved “military reconnaissance” of undetermined origin to snoop
around the Washington area. CNN says the Pentagon has not disclosed what kind of equipment will be used. Yet earlier in the day I saw a report indicating the military will use General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Predator UAV drones. They even showed video footage of the damn things.

Rummy just shot another big hole in the Posse Comitatus Act. It’s looked like Swiss cheese for years, ever since the military was “enlisted” to combat evil drug dealers. You know, drug dealers who sell CIA certified heroin and cocaine on the streets of American cities. According to CNN,
the Pentagon is not really trashing the Posse Comitatus Act because there is no “direct involvement” between the cops and the military.

Maybe the copywriters over at CNN need to read up on the Posse Comitatus Act. “Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more
than two years, or both.” Of course, Rummy does not need Congress to tell him what to do. His “guidelines,” recently published in the New York Times, demonstrate what he thinks about Congress and the American people.

Predator drones are “part of the Army or the Air Force,” even if guys in cammies and helmets toting M16s are not accompanying the cops as they look for the sniper. Well, a lot of cops are wearing cammies and helmets and toting M16s these days, so maybe the point is moot. I’m sure David
Koresh didn’t see a lot of difference between ATF agents and Nazi storm troopers. Or did the father of Elian Gonzalez. Or do a lot of dark skinned people in America’s inner cities. But never mind. I’m digressing.

It’s October. That means the Pentagon may have to fly its drones in bad weather — and the Predator does not do well in rain, wind, snow, or cold temperatures. Predators crash, too, although the Pentagon does not release such embarrassing statistics. A French journalist reported a
while back that a UAV drone was inadvertently thrown off course over Kosovo. It seems a French officer used the same radio frequency on which the UAV was operating. He interrupted the connection between the aircraft and its ground control station. The drone ended up in the hands
of the Serbs, who were likely ecstatic. In 1998, the Pakistanis were thankful as well when two of Clinton’s cruise missiles went off target and landed in their front yard unscathed. It was a benefit bestowed to Pakistan’s missile program which, at the time, was under US embargo.

Think of all the air traffic over Washington. Think about all the telephone wires, high power lines, microwave towers and cell phone repeaters. Rummy’s idea of catching the sniper with the help of a drone is an accident waiting to happen. Maybe Rummy didn’t think this one through. Then again, maybe he did. Maybe this is yet another hole shot
through the Swiss cheese that is the Posse Comitatus Act. Maybe if Dubya and Rummy keep blurring the lines a lot of us will no longer be able to tell the difference between cops and soldiers. Maybe we will finally believe this is what needs to be done to protect us from vicious terrorists. Maybe we will give up the fourth, fifth, and sixth amendments to the Constitution in order to fight terrorism. Maybe we
will give up the third amendment for good measure–you know, the one prohibiting “peacetime quartering of troops in private dwellings without owners’ consent” (well, the Pentagon will have to base those UAV stations somewhere). Then again, if Dubya has his way, peace will soon
become a curious anachronism.

The absurdity of the whole sniper affair is stunning. For instance, last week Ari Fleischer remarked to reporters in the White House briefing room that “the cost of one bullet” was much preferable to war against Iraq. He was talking about taking out Saddam by way of assassination,
something the CIA and military intel have done for decades — from Pegasus to Phoenix and beyond. In 1997, responding to Freedom of Information Act requests, the CIA released its notorious “Operation PBSUCCESS” assassination manual, used in the 1954 coup to oust — and kill — the elected president of Guatemala. So-called conservatives have
talked about assassination and mass murder for years — killing people they disagree with by single bullet or multiple bunker-buster munitions.
They now say the CIA must be allowed to get back into the murder and torture business. Some of us think they never got out of the business.

Dubya and clan have created a moral climate where murder is simply a political option — and, lately, the preferred political option. Instead of negotiation and containment, they insist on “pre-emption,” which is simply another word for killing the other guy before he even thinks about killing you — or maybe before he can extend the dreaded olive
branch. Perhaps most insane and irresponsible, Team Dubya has managed to demolish the taboo surrounding the unthinkable use of nuclear weapons in the name of geopolitical expediency. It seems Dubya and Crew want the
entire world to believe America is a nation filled with Washington Beltway snipers. America has a rep known around the world – everywhere, that is, except in America. Corporate media generated distraction and deception is an artform in the good old U.S. of A. History, as HenryFord opined, is bunk.

Fact is, US politicians like mass murderers. In the recent past, the US befriended and supported — both overtly and covertly — sundry murderers and demented thugs. Here’s the short list — Mohamed Suharto (2 million killed in Indonesia, 250,000 in East Timor), Ferdinand Marcos
(not only killed thousands in the Philippines, but also looted more than $35 billion), Augusto Pinochet Ugarte (had the democratically elected president of Chile murdered; thousands of political opponents killed and disappeared; 250,000 people gaoled, tortured, or exiled), Anastasio
Somoza Debayle (50,000 killed in Nicaragua; 120,000 exiled and 600,000 made homeless), and Pol Pot (3 million killed, or between a quarter and a third of Cambodia’s population). Oh, and let’s not forget Saddam Hussein, acquaintance and yes-man of various US presidents until 1990
when he misunderstood his marching orders. He has gassed and killed his own people with US assistance.

The Washington sniper is small potatoes. More people are killed each week from unsafe working conditions, uninspected food, medical malpractice, and entirely legal (and profitable) drugs such as tobacco and alcohol. But then, of course, those are mundane and wholly non-sensational crimes when compared to a sniper who it now appears
received his training — or, at least, his inspiration — from the US military. All told, the Washington sniper may turn out to be yet another unexpected instance of blowback, if not politically at least culturally.

But never mind. I think I hear a Predator buzzing outside my window.

now.A lot of flak is flying now and Brian Downing Quig is now DEAD!I
sent him E-mails just last week about my posts of JOE KELSO and who
he is connected to-bigtime CIA stuff here.That IS WHY STEW WEBB and
HARTWELL are going bonkers-put in OPERATION RINGWIND on Google,this
starts to explain what happened to Quig because this is a CIA/MOSSAD
